ABOUT HUARAZ
Capital of Ancash department (state). Huaraz sits at 3090 m at the southern end of the Callejon de Huaylas and makes ideal base for the Cordilleras Blanca. Most publics and privates offices are located here.
For trekkers and climbers has as many facilities you’ll get in Peru and most valley road heads can be reached in a couple of hours drive by private transport or less than a day by public transport.

Climate: The climate of Huaraz and the Cordillera Blanca is tropical not warm. The months of November through the beginning of May is considered the rainy season with temperatures ranging from 20-25 °C centigrade. May through September "Andean Summer" are the best months to visit, but are a little colder (approx. 10-20 °C), but without rain.
GETTING THERE AND AWAY
From Lima to Huaraz by land: It is the most common way, it has a paved road of 404 km from Lima city.
Approx bus trip: 8 hrs.
From Lima there are several buses companies that make the direct trip to Huaraz.

From Lima to Huaraz by air
Since two years ago LC Burse an airplane company is operating from Lima to Huaraz and vicevesa. The flight frequency is daily and it takes less than one hour to arrive in Anta the small airport located Northh of Huaraz, from there the same company takes you to Huaraz in its busses.
From the North of Peru
Huaraz may be reached also from the northern coast via Pan-American highway. You can buy your bus ticket in cities like Trujillo or Chimbote where you will find services direct to Huaraz city.
Getting away
From Huaraz city can be reached almost all the circuits around the Cordilleras Blanca, Huayhuash and Raura and the interesting tourist places around them.
